Fast, Highly Compressed, Encrypted DB2 UDB Backup Software by HyperBac

Introduction

Once you have configured the HyperBac Control Service for the output directory which you want to write your DB2 backups or exports to, you can now use any DB2 backup or export interface available to you (natively or otherwise), to perform fast, compressed, encrypted backups/exports.

In this example we are using the DB2 Control Center wizards to perform a DB2 tablespace backup.

Step 1 - Choose the Tablespace(s)

Working with the Control Center Wizard, select the tablespaces you wish to backup and click [Next].

Step 2 - Select the Destination for the Backup Image

** It is at this stage that you integrate your operation with Hyperbac for DB2 **

Hyperbac for DB2 integrates with DB2 File System backup or export operations. Once you've chosen this as the destination for your backup image, DB2 will prompt you to select the path the backup will be written to.

The browse window shown below, indicates that we have chosen the path c:\data\backup. Integration is simply achieved when the destination directory corresponds with a HyperBac enabled directory.

Step 3 - Configure the Backup Options

We have already integrated this backup with HyperBac in the previous step. We are simply continuing to run the DB2 Control Center wizard as we would natively.

Step 4 - Tune Backup Performance

Describe how you want the backup operation to perform and then select [Next]

Step 5 - Schedule the Backup Operation

You can choose to schedule the backup or run immediately. Once you're done, select [Next]

Step 6 - Run the Backup

You are about to run a native DB2 backup operation that has been integrated with Hyperbac for DB2. By integrating with HyperBac you can elect to compress your backup set, encrypt the backup set and if you desire, write the backup in a .ZIP compatible industry standard format.

Select [Finish] to run the backup
