HyperBac Online extends the capabilities of HyperBac technology to provide high-performance compression of online SQL Server data and transaction log files.

Its online data compression enables you to seamlessly run a fully functional SQL Server database on the compressed and/or encrypted file images, so you can significantly reduce your storage footprint and enhance database performance.

Environments that experience frequent refreshes, or where DASD is scarce or infrastructure budget limited, are well-suited to HyperBac Online’s high-performance compression. Example environments include disaster recovery or QA/test environments. HyperBac Online can also benefit read-only databases or read-only filegroups, where not only can a substantial storage cost reduction be achieved, but a performance gain too.

HyperBac Online can also compress virtual hard disk files for virtual machine guest operating systems. HyperBac Online then runs the virtual guest systems on the compressed files, reclaiming 50-90% of the space normally allocated; all with no additional configuration required on the virtualization platform.
