Seamless High Performance Storage Compression for Online SQL Server Data Files, VMware Virtual Hard Disks and more

The HyperBac Online solution extends upon the capabilities of HyperBac to allow users to compress SQL Server Data and Transaction Log files and seamlessly run a SQL Server database on these compressed and/or encrypted file images.

Using HyperBac Online you are able to backup a database to a compressed image and then restore the compressed file directly into compressed data and/or log files and run the SQL Server database on 75-90% less DASD with no additional configuration required.

HyperBac Online is well suited for development, disaster recovery or QA/test environments, where refreshes are frequent, DASD is scarce and infrastructure budget is limited. Other well suited applications include read only databases or read only filegroups, where not only can a substantial storage cost reduction be achieved but a performance gain as well.

HyperBac Online can also be used to compress VMware, Virtual Server or Virtual PC virtual hard disk files and then run the virtual guest system on these compressed files, reclaiming 50-75% of the space normally allocated. All with no additional configuration required in VMware or any other virtualization platform.
